Somebody turned back a 7w early archery tag . The late start dates and wet weather this summer, I just cant pass. A little over 2 weeks isn't much time . It should be interesting. Anybody been on 7w looking around ? Are we in for a good hunt?

I hear the Flagstaff area is as green as its been in a long time! will be south of there myself. Good luck!

I just learned that the area on 7w burned by the Boundry fire is closed to the public until Oct 15. Kendrick Mt and Kendrick wilderness area. How big of a deal is that ? Maybe that's why the tag was turned in.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-31-17 AT 07:46AM (MST)[p]I've never hunted 7W for archery bull so I don't know much about it. I took a trip out there last week and the bulls are hanging around the cows. I also think that there was elk scouters and their camps already out there. Good luck on your hunt.

Thanks for the replies. I decided to pass. To little time and to much unknown for 14 points. Im afraid the closed area will cause crowding to be worse. 225 tags in an already small unit.

I think you made the right choice given the 14 points you would have given up. The tag increases have reduced some of the "quality of experience" that this hunt used to have. The closure will just make that worse.
The bull to cow ratio is still high but the age class has taken a beating.

I have 13 points. I'm not going to take the tag due to not having much time to scout and already having two other hunts scheduled for the same dates as this hunt .

Alright I'm waiting for the person with 12 pts to respond......I've seen a good number of big bulls in 7W this year, but with 225 tags, and the start date closing in you guys made the right choice!

So had you guys put in for 7w in draw and were next in line?
I hadn't heard of azgfd calling next in line, but that's super cool if that's the case!
I live in Parks and gotta say you should have taken the tag ?
The forest circus mountain closure is such BS...they just let mountain bikers into the closed area for a race this weekend but it's still closed to hunters and hikers, that's just not right ???
It's sad because they did a great job with the burn, but talk about a good way to loose public support for burns when they start closing us out of our public lands...

Solodawg we Got same hunt i have a muzzy bull wife has muzzy cow 6a Good Luck !

I saw a few real giant bulls taken on the 7 West archery hunt this year! I'm sure there's more out there I haven't seen, but so far looks like 7W could be a great choice for a true trophy bull of a lifetime!
