This will be my 4th time down to the desert chasing AZ mule deer with the bow this Jan, big difference is this year going without a guide unlike the prior 3. I shot a broken tine warrior my first time out and that's been it so far, besides some great times and good deer sightings. Heading down with my buddy from NorCal and pulling a trailer for lodging - I've seen everything from flood style rains, to snow, to 78' degree heat - Prepare for everything.

Really excited about this upcoming hunt and looking forward to getting behind the glass and finding those desert bucks roaming for tail. Glass, glass, glass, not finding any deer, move and then keep glassing! Kids go back to school on the 8th so I'll likely me on the road on the 9th. Hit me up if your heading down there and want to keep in touch or have any questions - happy to help with what I know, which is not much! - Anyone have any luck with the decoy!?! TF

I responded in your other post but anyway...

It's so dry right now its getting ridiculous. Hunt near water or you won't see many/any deer.

I've tried the decoy thing a few times, I'm not a fan. I've had better luck getting in front of them and hunkering down and waiting. As you probably have figured out, stalking in the desert is tough with the ground being as rocky as it is. I like to get to 100-150 yards and let the deer move around. They should be pushing does and running in circles that time of year. Good luck.

I've also tried the decoy in the eastern plains but I was solo and it was tough to work the decoy and draw the bow. Now I see they have one that you shoot through.

I hope we dont get a ton of weather. Two years ago I was down there and it snowed and rained like crazy, blew out the roads and visibility was low.

Beastn were you guys in a white f150 with a pse archery sticker on the back window? Just curious cause I saw that truck pulling a trailer and it had a cali. License plate.
