22N late rifle

Hey guys, researching late hunts for my second choice in the draws..this unit caught my attention..anyone have experience on this hunt?

Personally haven't hunted it but plenty of friends have. Very tough hunt and the bulls are in some very rough stuff. Also tough to find anything bigger than a raghorn. If you do do it stick to the edge of the rim near the border of 4a and 5a.

Hike the rugged stuff and shoot long distance. There are mature bulls there, but not a lot of them. Not your typical AZ hunt.

Look into that part that a wilderness area, It has some area's that are hard to get into, so it less pressure. Backpack in 5-6 miles will get you away from most hunters.
Horses are a good thing to have.

it's not a great hunt. every once in a while someone get's a decent bull out of this hunt, but it's usually 'cuz they forked out big for a guide. tons of people on this hunt.

I've been looking at 22N late as well. What about elk numbers? Are there many elk in the unit in December?

Howdy All,

I ended up drawing this tag and am excited for a December elk hunt. If anyone has any more specific pointers on areas to check out, please send me a PM.

I'll be down there in July to do some scouting of the area, more to get a lay of the land and check for water sources.
