AZ Resident Elk

Howdy,

I recently moved to AZ from NM for work. I was fortunate to draw a tag and harvest a bull on my first attempt at hunting elk while a resident in NM, so if you have any questions about the Gila area, let me know. That being said, I am still trying to wrap my head around elk hunting here in Arizona.

I do not have plans of holding out for something that takes 20 years to draw. I would much rather be on a tough hunt than be at home waiting for a great hunt. I do not mind tough terrain and will hunt with any weapon. I will dig into cow hunts on my own, this thread is about chasing bulls. And I am happy hunting areas without 350" bulls. I want to hunt in August/September, because I have a work trip that will take me out of the country for several months beginning in October. All that being said, which areas would you guys point me towards?

Thanks in advance,

Ozzy

Put in for the lesser units for an archery hunt.

5B 4A 7W just to mention a few. Take your pick they are all good elk units. You'll have a blast chasing bugling bulls, and if not too picky you may even connect.

Just about any unit would work for you! Probably something between units 4 and 8. They all have plenty of bulls and are easier to draw than those premium units.
