OTC Deer question

I live in NM and am considering getting an otc archery deer tag. In AZ when you buy one do you choose and unit when you buy it or can you just hunt in any open otc unit? Also I'm looking at 27 or 28. Which would you recommend? I will take a Mulie if it presents itself but I would like to concentrate on coues. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

With OTC archery deer tag you can hunt any unit in state that is open for OTC archery. Unit 27 is good for whitetail and muley. There is a lot of remote country to get away from road pressure...I am not familiar with 28.....Good luck

You can hunt any open unit. Don't know anything about 27 or 28.

Thanks for the info guys. One more question. So if I'm wanting to do otc in January next year I would need to wait and buy the tag Jan 1st correct? Because if I bought it this year it would expire dec 31st?

Yes, OTC tags are only good for calendar year..... but hunting license are good for 365 days....so just make sure your hunting license is good though January 2019 then you just need to purchase the deer tag.

That was incredibly difficult for the wal-mart cashier to understand when I was there.

I spent 3 days in 28 and stalked 1 buck. Not a monster and didn't connect but was a fun hunt. Lots of country to cover and the roads (suck, or at least the ones I was on did!). Still would go back though as I like glassing the open country rather than hunting heavy timber.
