Hey guys,

I got lucky on my second choice and drew the 11m second Archery tag as a non res, super pumped as this is my first az tag and first draw tag. I helped my bro in law with his 6a tag a few years back so I'm somewhat familiar with the area. Has anybody been on this hunt recently? Is it possible to get away from crowds on this hunt? Feel free to shoot a pm.

Thanks in advance. CP

You won't see many hunters but you will see dog walkers, dirt bikers, joggers and hikers.

I hunted it years ago before there was a second season. This is not a hunt to get away from other hunters/ people as it is a relatively small hunt area. This a unique hunt that provides opportunity to hunt nice bulls and go into flagstaff everyday for lunch if you would like. I hunted the whole season and got a good bull but missed a couple opportunities at real nice bulls.
Make sure you have good off-road tires. We were in an expedition with less than good tires and had 4 flats on this hunt.

One thing a partner who had the tag told me.

The elk don't act like normal elk in that when you get winded, or bump them, they don't leave the country. They are used to human interaction so they don't panic to the extent elk in non-human interaction areas do.

No elk in 11M, so you might as well stay home. JK. That is the only unit I put in for. Did not get one last year as the weather turned crappy the second week.

Honestly, I only saw a couple other hunters the whole hunt and never had anyone interfere with where I was. There are some areas you can hike in to that are less traveled. My buddy has that hunt this year, so I won't be able to give you any info on good places until he bags one!

Good luck.
