ORO ranch 18b

I got my NR cow tag for 18b and 4 other units. I saw about 6 or 7 elk last year while hunting otc deer in 18b but for this year I'm looking to get up higher northeast towards the flats where there is better elk densities. I know the top half of 18b is mostly private ranch land but I remember reading somewhere that you can pay to hunt cow elk on the ORO ranch. I messaged them on Facebook about a month ago and haven't heard anything back. Before I call and bug them I figured I would ask if anyone on here has any info on it or if they even allow hunting in the land anymore. Any help is appreciated. I can help with several units in nevada if needed. Thanks

LAST EDITED ON Mar-12-18 AT 09:23AM (MST)[p]I have friends that have hunted that ranch but for bull elk. I know to hunt the Bulls you have to pay a pretty penny but I'm not sure how much the cows might cost. If it's even 10% of what the bulls cost it's not going to be worth it. But I will ask them and see if they happen to know and I'll get back to you. I'm actually applying for the first time in Nevada this year if you'd have any pointers on decent units for elk I'd appreciate them. You can private message me if you'd like.

Not much help but he said as of the last year or two cow hunters were allowed but no idea on the price. Also said they are terrible at responding so keep trying to get a hold of them.

Thanks for the help. I'll give them a call and see what I can come up with. I agree if it's to pricey it's not worth it. There is plenty of areas I can choose from that have good elk but it would be nice to be somewhere with less pressure that's for sure. And as far as nevada goes I haven't been lucky enough to draw an elk tag. It can take years off applying to draw. Some of the coveted tags could take nearly 15 years. Alot of the units on the nevada Idaho border in the 60's and 70's hold good elk and may be easier to draw. The best thing to do would check out top rut and find out your best odds of drawing certain areas but be prepared to buy bonus points for a while before u can draw a tag.

As an outfitter/guide in Unit 18B, I can either steer you, or take to some areas that have elk.
