Velvet Muley Hunt

Howdy,

Due to work, I will miss the fall and winter hunts this year. Thus, I am planning an OTC archery deer hunt in the early season.
I am looking for general tips as I have not hunted deer in AZ yet.

I would like to:
1. Hunt mule deer, but would shoot a coues if the opportunity presented itself.
2. Stay within a 3 hour drive of Tucson.
3. Get away from the crowds (I'm willing to walk 10-12 miles a day).

I realize I am going hunting in a brutally hot time of the year, so I am thinking about heading North and planning some sits near water. Other than that, I am still trying to decide what to do.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

This time of year and especially this year, the key is to hunt near water. Lots of opportunities for you within 1-2 hours of Tucson.
