My 16 year old daughter drew the late rifle hunt this fall. She is really looking forward to this trip, Lilly her last before and during college. We have been watching the radar and it appears that there has been good rain as of late. Her question is:
How much off if any will the antlers be this year?
She wants to "hunt harder" then she has in the past and hopefully get a bull that might fit into the top 25% to 30%.
What class of bull should she be looking for with the dry spring?

Horns look pretty good this year despite the dry winter and spring. We have had a ton of rain in the last couple weeks. My wife has the hunt and we recently went out for just a 24 hour campout and drive around. BUlls look healthy, everything is green and growing.
BUlls in this unit can tip the magical mark for me which is still 350. I know there are always the 400 crowd but lets be serious. If you arent paying someone and cannot spend the time it takes to scout that 400 inch bull out, shoot the 320. I say that because 320 is a great bull for the late hunt. If you hunt hard and know where to look for big bulls after the rut you have a better shot at tagging a bruiser. Any unit in Arizona that holds elk can and probably does hold those 350-360 bulls unit 1 is no exception. It looks like it will be just fine. It can snow heavily remember. good luck
