This was a great hunt for us! We got to meet Dan, who is an awesome man. Helpful, Passionate, Knowledgeable, a true Outdoorsman, and just a Great Guy. I wished we would have had more time with him, but the time we had was enough to learn these things about him. Thank you sir for your help.
The Kaibab is a special place. It will be burning in my mind until I get the chance to go back. There are too many things to list that I love about it. I would say this even if we would have come back empty handed. I have hunted out west in many places over the past 28 years and the Kaibab is definitely one of my favorites, and without a doubt the most unique.
My brother and I are elk hunters. We have done some mule deer hunts, but we are really developing a passion for it lately. I have a lot of points in a few states. This hunt has gotten me excited about that.
I passed on some smaller bucks, and seen some giant bucks. Seen multiple bucks every day, but it took to the last minute of shooting light on the last day of our hunt to get my chance at this buck. Not a 200" monster but a nice buck with a little character.
It is not an easy hunt. It can be if things just go perfect, but most likely you will bump bucks, see bucks with no way of getting into bow range, have bucks pass out of range, have smaller bucks walk right up to you (LOL), etc, etc, but just as when I am elk hunting. As long as I can get in them, I am happy. In the Kaibab we were in them!
