Hello All,
Due to an unforeseen event I will be not be able to hunt after spending 15 points getting a late season Elk tag.
What options do I have regarding returning the tag?

Hopefully you purchased point guard, if so you will get your points back. You can donate your tag to an organization such as:

Outdoor experience for all
There are several others

You will still get your points back if you donate your tag to one of these organizations.

To get your points back plus one no questions asked, you need to have bought pointguard. Once you do that, you can't do it again for that species on your stack of points. Next time you draw, you lose your points no matter what. If you didn't buy pointguard, you lose your points no matter what you do with your tag.

No matter what, you can donate the tag to a worthy charity and point retention will be as above. If you choose to do this, it is best to do this as soon as possible as choosing and making arrangements to take a sick kid or wounded warrior hunting takes time. It's less than a month to the late elk hunt now.

I think you can give your tag to your minor child ot grandchild but points will be gone too. And obviously, if you can't make it, some other adult will have to go with your kid.

Thank you for your responses. I like the option to pass on to someone in need. Unfortunately I will lose the points but at least I can make the best of the situation. Thank you.
