27 late rifle

As a non res I'm on the verge of drawing but point creep has been keeping me on the out side.
I'm looking to see if any one is applying or knows someone who is with more points than they need in 2019
It should be 11 for 100% this year according to gohunt. I'm willing to compensate.
I posted a similar message on the elk page but thought I'd give this a try.

Pm me if anyone is interested.

Thanks Dave

How many points do YOU have??

I'm pretty sure I have 9 total.
7 regular 1 loyalty 1 hunters safety.

I called AZ F&G and they said I have 10.
8+1+1

I questioned the lady over and over.
So I hope she is right.

According to go hunt it's predicted to be
100% with 11 14% with 10 and 5% with 9

Either way I would need someone with 12

Gohunt doesn't predict odds; they posted the actual odds from 2018 and called them 2019 odds. To be fair so does everybody else.

These are the NR point pools from 2018.

It took 8 minimum to get a Bonus Pass tag in 2016.

That point creep sucks. I can't believe so many non-residents apply for these late rifle elk hunts. This is very surprising to me.

Judging by the past, 11 may not be enough this year and 12 might be a safer bet. Good luck

I hate to say it but if G&F passes the super bonus point proposal and allows the point to build year after year, point creep will spread like wild fire. I'm ok with the super bonus point as a means to raise funds but I am only in favor if you lose the point after each draw cycle.

Good hunting

If you will be happy with an average or small bull, then 27 late rifle is for you. If you want a decent chance at a big bull, then try elsewhere.

Have you spent a lot of time in 27?
I have never been but I have read good things.
This is one of the first negative things I have read.

Pretty much what I have heard with all late hunts , I have 11 points but maybe look at something else might not draw with only 11

Yes, i hunted it two years ago. We saw close to 100 bulls both dead and alive, but none that i would consider big. It's a great hunt to get an average 6x6, just nothing special. It is a late hunt, so i guess you can't expect too much. Maybe it was an off year for antler growth.

I'm in the same boat. I have 11 points and was deliberating between 1 and 27 late this year as a non-res. I put in for 1 first choice and 27 second so we'll see how it shakes out. Dave, aren't you an Oregon guy? If we both draw we'll have to connect somehow.

With 11 you should have a decent chance at it. But Probably not 100% still
I went in with 9points so my odds are some where in the 5% range.

I'm from central Oregon.

Good luck in the draw.
Let me know how you do.

Hunted 27 late a few years ago. Worst elk hunt I've ever been on and I have hunted elk in pretty much every western state. Plenty of elk but WAY too many people for me. But... I'm mostly an archery guy that does not hunt around anyone ever. Maybe if you're mostly used to OR rifle hunts it won't bother you, but I spent all my time just trying to get away from people. Sure wish I had those points back I'd be good for an early season archery hunt by now. Big mistake.

BTW I'm also from OR.
