Another reason why NM is so amazing

I swear I cant even begin to explain how great NM has been to me. Three years of hunting and camping here and I'm honestly still in complete shock every time I get up into the mountains or cool new areas. In the past month alone I've been fortunate enough to hunt elk in the mountains, chase deer in the dunes, and this weekend I got to go play in OTC barb country.

This was my first time chasing barb in this kind of terrain and it's addicting. Seeing them work those giant cliffs and canyons is phenomenal. Not to mention they are some of the most beautiful animals I've seen!

Saturday my buddy and I hiked 12 hours, glassed 4 really nice rams (3 mid 20s and 1 close to 30"), saw beautiful country and more. Just seeing the country alone made it worth it, but seeing those rams were a big added bonus.


I cant wait to get back out there and chase them again.

Big country for those Barbs to hide in,good luck on your hunt.

That area is OTC? Man that looks like good country for barbs. I would figure that is a draw area.

I leave Oct 11th, but they cant keep me away forever! This place is too nice and I will be back.

Due to a military clause, I changed my residency to NM and will be able to maintain it even in Florida. When my time is up out there I will be begging them to send me back.
All of my vacation time will be hopefully used out here if I draw anything!

Beautiful area, isn't it?
I wish I could have spent more time in there. I haven't seen any draw units, but from what I've been told they can be a little more forgiving than the area I was in.
