Vermejo Park Ranch NM /My Unit 51 Bow Hunt

Well tag soup for me this year the harvest moon made it a tough hunt but had lot of fun elk started talking two days before the end of the hunt and when I say talking I mean very little . We covered a lot of ground and the night of the 23th there came the snow . It was fun the big boy showed himself but wasn't a good shot so I watched him make his way off If I would have moved he would have busted me he was 150 out so I looked at him and told him next year .
I was driving home and my daughter call me to tell me She got a letter from Game & Fish telling her because of her getting 100% on her hunter safety she won a Guided cow Elk Hunt on Oct 29/30 at Vermejo Park Ranch in Raton ALL we have to do is Show up .

Congrats to you and your daughter on the opportunity to hunt on The Vermejo Park Ranch. I have had the opportunity to go on this hunt to help with the food and guiding. I must say, this hunt is the highlight of my year. This year I am giving up the opportunity to go on a couse deer hunt in order to attend this hunt. And YES, you are right, you guys are gonna have a blast! Is she a good shot? If so, I may just have to request her as my hunter.... See you at The Whittington Center for dinner on Friday night!!!

She is a great shot when game & fish started the mentor youth thing she was able to get a elk tag and she got a youth cow tag and shot one when she was 12 250 yards and believe it or not she has a 30/06 but she likes my 300WSM that's what she got her first cow with and wants to continue with she is now 14 and loves hunting .
