NM unit 15 cow

I've hunted unit 15 in NM a few times, I was looking for opinions which side has more elk cows, Reserve side or Quemado lake side? I've seen lots of cows on both sides of the unit.

The Reserve side is 16A

LAST EDITED ON Feb-13-17 AT 08:18AM (MST)[p]Ive had the late cow muzzy hunt a couple times and hunted both areas , down by Reserve and up by Quemado.I like the area west of Quemado all the way to the AZ state line, alot of those elk come off Fox Mtn and winter in those flats(pinion & juniper) and you can find them in herds. The southern area does have a lot of elk too scattered all over down there but there seems to get more hunter traffic, but again a lot of elk = a lot more guys looking....Hope this helps, but all in all a very good cow hunt.

I've hunted unit 15 for quite sometime now and have been very successful. I've never asked for anyone's honey holes or starting point. I have my own spots that I hunt on a regular basis. I was just asking for opinions on which side you all would say had more cow Elk. Nothing more.

Oh no, don't give away all the spots, whaaaa! Specifics should be in a pm, whaaaa! Now everyone's gonna apply for the infamous unit XX, whaaaa! Someone gave away a specific trailhead in a unit, whaaaa! Don't let it get to ya Elkextreme.

Wonder how many more people would post on these forums if there wasn't so much of this belly-aching all the time...

Hell on a cow hunt does it really matter what area has more elk. All u need to find is one. Lol

backpacker your words are exactly why the NM forum has just dropped off. Hunters/outdoors-man working against eachother.I get the guy who has 1 or 2 posts comes on and says hey I drew unit 16A 1st RIFLE BULL , AND NEVER BEEN THERE, and want to kill a 400 inch mamoth and can you please submit pictures and coord# so I can go kill it and send it off to every trophy magazine and step on a soap box and pound my chest!!!I wouldn't respond to that , if a guy is simply going to smash another guy I just don't want any part of that thread....I work for the G&F, I hear EVERY story type that exists, and I don't mind offering words of encouragement or even help.Its so hard to draw tags these days and our hunting and fishing is being attacked from all angles, so I try and help if I can....Not saying others don't or calling anyone out, just saying this NM forum used to be the best on MM.....After the hunts it was everyday chatter about upcoming draws, now its days on days of nothing from anyone....A lot of reasons to it , but mostly what you have said...
