LAST EDITED ON Feb-27-17 AT 03:40PM (MST)[p]I joined MM a few years ago and found it was a group of people that enjoyed collaborating and there was camaraderie. There have been people on this site that have helped me out and I returned the favor to others when needed. But it seems now that the New Mexico page has turned into a very toxic and condescending forum. A person cannot ask a question or post something without getting attacked by people that consider themselves to be elite or too cool for school. I feel like every time I log into this page I am reading a series of Twitter threads of President Trump trashing Rosie O'Donnell or Hillary Clinton. I am all about having fun with people and things like that. But lets not forget why we joined MM.

I noticed about 3 years ago. LOL, you nailed it though.

Here is the deal on hunting forums. There is good and bad you have to deal with. I have seen hunting forums ruined by heavy handed actions of their owners. This forum has been around forever because the owner is not like that.
Sometimes there are cliques that are exactly like you say, Condescending and elitist. Best to ignore. There are always people that enjoy posting pics, share info and fun stories.

Best thing is if you ignore the negative stuff it just goes away.

I have seen many times where the guy that comes off as the expert is not.

There are all levels of hunters on these forums. Super serious to not so serious. New, to super experienced. Successful to not always successful.
My pet peeve is when more accomplished hunters think that not so accomplished hunters do not deserve to draw primo tags. However, people should be allowed to speak freely on these forums as long as they dont break rule.
Bear with the negative stuff, there will be great stuff coming once hunting season starts.

>Sounds good Paul. Good luck
>on the draw man

You to also...... unless you applied for my units. ;)

You have to wade through the chit just like life there will always be somebody saying good and bad get used to it will never end that's why we have mountains to get away from the chit.

Since I did contribute to some of the CHIT I'll contribute to some good.

I was sick from Jan 1-12 and got blessed with this buck this year .. hope it helps change the vibe a little .

Good luck this year guys.

I learned long ago, dont judge anyone by how they come across in written form. Sometimes the guys that come across the roughest are the nicest guys around.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-27-17 AT 09:09PM (MST)[p]That is a real nice buck! Most guys would probably be able crack a smile.........:)

Hahaha same here icy!!!! Hope you do well this year!!! If I don't draw barb I'll be hitting it hard OTC maybe you and Logan can visit some of my spots !!!

No kidding - it makes me want to learn how to bowhunt. Almost... :)

I think we are all dealing with the usual issue of written internet word coming across too heavyhanded and the fact we are all pissy because our hunting fates are out of our hands right now as we figure out where to apply or we wait for the draw.

I see that happen each year at this time and once we get past the draw, and the understandable griping of some not getting drawn, we can focus on the hunting things that are within our control: practicing, scouting, getting in shape, planning, etc.

Well then I'll share my late rifle mega buck I killed , broadside at 186 yards.Th hunt was a blast as my dad was long side me on a hunt we were not sure would happen as I had thrown my back out Halloween week loading hay.....Rain for 2 days and lots of mud but what a fun fun hunt....I passed on a 4x4 with crab claws the afternoon before but didn't want to shoot a buck on the first day....And this mammoth joker stepped out on day 2 which was crazy as the savage in me took over and I realized I will prolly never shoot a book tyep deer and I just love hunting and antlers seem to be of second thought ....VERY BLESSED TO HAVE THIS BUCK...ENJOY MY FRIENDS...

IMO Paul is spot on here. Like any forum, you have to take the good with the bad. I like to tell my friends who are trying to get into hunting to join this or another forum because there is a lot that can be learned. However, you have to be able to sift through the BS at times to get to the good info. I for one am very thankful for this forum. I've made some good friends over the last 4 yrs, gotten help, and paid it forward as well where appropriate.

I belong to a few hunting forums, and they are all a little alike. I have received a lot of assistance from a few members, and been belittled or ignored by others. There are good people out there, and most are willing to help, as long as you aren't asking for GPS coordinates. The help we got from a couple of forum members resulted in my son filling his cow elk tag, and made for a once in a lifetime memory for both of us. Thanks to everyone that lends a hand, gives advice and encouragement. You are helping to build a new generation of hunters. A special thanks to Andy, the scouting reports and advice were priceless.
