Drew the unit 45 ewe tag. Bout had a heart attach at first when I thought it was a ram tag but still excited. Anyone had this tag?

Congrats on the tag! I had the Latir Ewe tag a few years ago and had a great time! This is the first time they've had a Ewe tag in the Pecos, so the ewes should be pretty tame. However they gave away quite a few tags, so might be somewhat crowded.

Good luck!

I drew the ewe tag in the Latirs the very first year they had it in 2011. At the time the sheep were not very wild, but I was told by a bunch of people since then that they have gotten very skittish.

Been thinking about backpacking in. Seems like hikers are seeing sheep from some of them ajor trailheads. If they are as tame as they sound I may use my bow...

No but I drew the Ram tag for the Rio Grande Gorge this year. I am really excited as I am sure you are.

Good luck, and if you or anyone has info they could pass along to help a newbie, it would be really appreciated.

Drive out to the west end pull-out at the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge north of Taos. Set up your spotter on the picnic tables and glass the entire canyon! You will find sheep from here and plan your next move from there! A good starting point no doubt. May also want to contact Eric Rominger, the NM G and F sheep biologist for additional info if you haven't already done so.Goodluck!

Hey vini,
How was the trail to Katherine? Trying to decide between a couple different destinations/trailheads.
