Well its happened. Ive been hunting units 50 51 52 for about 12 years now never had any issues up there I know most of the land owners up there .Some Ahole thought he would take my trail cams . All I have to say is Karma will get em . Anyway I haven't been on here in awhile I got my unit 51 bull tag for the 3rd rifle hunt. cant wait . My boy got a nice 6x6 outa there last year ive already found the group I will be playing with cant wait they look good .

Good luck to all of ya

Andy

I hunted 51 last year and really wanted to put cameras out but couldn't get over the feeling I would come back and not find a single one. I did come across one on a water tank way back in the boonies, obviously no one had stolen that one yet but it was an unknown water tank (not marked on any map or USFS data).

Hope you and your son are successful again. I used 51 as my second and third choice this year but it was not meant to be.

I lost a cam last year as well as a buddy of mine. I don't think it's necessarily landowners. I suspect other hunters that are scouting tend to pick up a few

I know it wasn't landowners Ive seen very few hunters/people where I hunt in 51 . I should have put another up higher taking a pic of that one hahahahah.

I'm surprised that I've only had one that has ever been messed with. I packed it and a salt lick in about four miles (no trail) and returned a couple weeks later to find it faced the opposite direction and shut off. I've had bears turn them upside down and bite down on them, but they never knew to open up the unit and turn off the switch. When I looked at the date that it was disturbed, it was only a couple hours after I had left it, so I guess I should be happy that they were considerate enough not to steal it--they just didn't want it taking pictures of that spot. I figure the culprit was probably watching when I set it up, and I'm pretty sure I know who did it, but whatter ya gonna do?

You stated "trail cams", did they take more than one? I set out quite a few and am happy when they are there when I return. I've had folks point at them, wave, hide their face, but never messed with one. I figure when I leave a tree stand, cam, or anything else, if it's there when I get back cool. If it's gone I'm not happy, but I left it there, I need to hide it better.

Few years ago we lost a few, we had them set over tanks, When we put them on trails to and from those tanks we didn't lose any, Word to the wise move them down the trails.

I like this unit for elk, not so much for deer.

Yes, sir! That was my fix for the trail cameras too!

LAST EDITED ON Jul-31-17 AT 09:53PM (MST)[p]Karma's right!
I can't understand a hunter stealing from another hunter.
Thanks really sucks

I'm starting to get excited! I'll be in unit 51 starting the 1st looking for a bull/spike or a tender mature cow would be great also lol. I'm hunting meat! Would like to tag a bear while I'm out there too, might be pressing my luck there though!

How everyone is doing well

Friggin hate thieves! I hope you guys have a great hunt and hope those stealing POS get theirs! I haven't bought or put up any cameras for this exact reason....I want too because of all the great pics and fun in it but its so costly to hang a $100 or more camera only to have a peckerhead sum bittch take it....
