Looking for people who drew the first archery elk season in unit 15 this year. I drew the second archery season and am looking to get a general idea of quality bull people are seeing to gauge what I should be looking for.

I'll be down there Sept. 13 and could help do some calling for someone still looking to fill their tag too.

All first archery tag holders have to be pumped right now. with a second season tag in my pocket, I feel like christmas is coming or better. Good luck to all!

your average bull in 15 is not going to be 300-330 not gona happen this unit quality has been run down you will see lots of dink bulls and tiny 5x5 elk , Yes there are monster and they kill a few each year but to say an average or normal range is 300-330 in 15 is a pipe dream . I f you see a decent 5 pull the trigger and decent five i say a 5 with main beams of more the 24 inches i cant count how main 5's and 6's i ve seen here that are no joke 25 inch main beams fives the unit quality is down quantity is there tho...

well that's depressing to hear. I hunted it in 2011 during a severe drought and while we were calling in average of six bulls per day, average score was in the 260 range. figured that was partially due to drought.

I don't know what the average is exactly, but you should have no problem running across bulls that are 300"+ in that unit on an archery hunt...especially during the 2nd hunt.

If you are seeing immature bulls, they are just that...the herd bulls will not be of that caliber.

Should see a decent number of elk, quality has fell way off compared to7-8 years ago, it would be hard to pass a 300"bull now

Can't be too depressing, at least you got an elk tag. Right now I'd be ecstatic if even had a unit 9 tag!

This is true. An elk tag is still an elk tag and at least I get to chase bulging bulls.

Called 14 bulls within 40 yds. I missed a unique 6 x dropper with trash and my buddy single lunged a 300 bull one evening. he found it laying down the next day thinking it was dead and as he walked up to it the thing jumped up and took off. never saw it again. Was a fun hunt with plenty of opportunity but did not see the quality that the unit has a reputation for.
