Slob of a Bear, Nice Bull

LAST EDITED ON Aug-06-17 AT 08:57AM (MST)[p]This is the best bull I have found yet this summer in all my scouting. This is Northern NM in a unit not typically known for producing big bulls. He only showed up this one time so I hope I can turn him up again. Will he break 300? Sweet bear too! Will definitely have a bear tag in my pocket during my Archery hunt.

Nope, it was a smaller bull that he was hanging with.

I agree that that bull is just under 300" , but I'd be proud to take him . The bear looks like an honest slob ! Take him if you can.

Sweet pics... if the date is correct I think the bull has some growing left... weak 3ds but that's common in the north. He could get to 300 or very close when he is done. The bear is fat and a keeper GL

That bull came in on July 16th. I think he might have a little growing to do since then but not much.

Not exactly sure how to approach this hunt this year. My old man and I typically run and gun but since we have the first hunt I am contemplating hanging a tree stand or building a ground blind on some of these tanks I have been watching. I know that will greatly increase my odds of killing a bear too but I am not a huge fan of ambush hunting.

That bear is friggin awesome! An ur unit does had some tremendous bulls, I was up there Sat all day and got to watch and listen to cow elk...The weather felt cool , its about that time ....Man I wish I had ur tag!

I'm turning up a handful of 250-280 bulls but not many bigger than that. This is another bull I am excited about. This one came by on June 29th, still had some inches to put on I hope.

I was also there on Saturday and the weather was awesome, cool and moist. Looks like it rained hard on Friday afternoon. Saw a crap load of cows and calves down in some private and then two nice bulls up by one of my cameras. I am pumped for this hunt whether I kill a nice bull, a spike, or even a cow. I just love September with a bow in hand.
