I have a ultimate predator deer decoy and was thinking of trying it out on my early season elk hunt. My question is, has anyone used a deer decoy while hunting for elk? Are they effective?

Leave that at home, go get a cow elk decoy. You ain't getting no bull elk to come into a deer decoy.

Didn't figure on getting a bull to come in to the deer decoy, Just figured it might help getting in close and not scaring them into the next county. Not bugling very much the 1st of September around here.

I believe that the decoy gives you a moment that the animal hesitates trying to figure out what you are. If you don't have a cow decoy, I think a deer is better than nothing.

While deer hunting, my mentor taught me to use cow calls while moving through the woods. Obviously, the idea wasn't to bring in the bucks, but to keep them calm about the noises they were hearing. I think using a deer decoy while elk hunting would work the same way as long as you can stay down wind.
