No muzzle bulls yet?

bulls were super quiet in 34 this weekend for the youth hunt...luckily we were able to find a small herd yesterday so my daughter could seal the deal...

I helped a friend out in 36. We were closing in on a big bull when a guy from Virginia got him first. A nice 330-340", too! I could only help out the weekend and they're still out there with no luck.

The entire state went quiet a few days before the opener. It sucked. Even the valle vidal was ghostly quiet. Its the worst muzzy season ive ever see!

Been really quiet... haven't heard a peep all fall... Very Strange
Have seen Bulls but they are not talking.

I was helping on a hunt in the Valles caldera for the muzzleloader hunt. Our first hunter was very pleased to take a 310 bull. The second hunter as of 1:00 pm today has passed on 30+ bulls we were able to call in. He missed one bull opening morning that would have scored 350+ and another today that that was easily as big if not a little bigger! We did manage to find a couple giant bulls and put one to bed that would easily meet and surpass that 380 mark today, hopefully he was able to make it happen, I had to leave unfortunately so I wish him well! If any one has been up there this year I'm sure you heard the rumor of a bull that is running around that will score 420, we saw him today and I doubt he will go 410.LOL! If anyone has an up coming hunt there and is willing to hike I'll be more than happy to share some info!

Look, Elvis is dead, the Government ain't hiding any UFO's, their ain't any Cheyenne dog soldiers hiding in the Oxbo and their sure as hell ain't any 400 class bulls in the Calders. LMAO.

My dad sealed the deal in 52 for the muzzle hunt. The bulls were talking good better then i thought they would be to be honest.

yes God is good and has been very king to us this year. More so allowing me to spend time with my old man I soak in every moment of it cause one day i wont have that chance. For 64 he can sure still pack some elk out that is for sure OLD MAN strenght is a real thing.

I will expect to see pics hopefully that big boy you found

Believe me I was quick to call b/s when another outfitter told me about the bull but, seeing is believing. A young girl killed a different bull this hunt that allegedly scored 402. I did see the bull and yes it's a toast but doubt the 402 but, I did not tape it! Two years ago a confirmed net typical 397 was killed across the street in Aragon Canyon in 6-C so it's quite possible! This bull is very non- typical with a huge palmation and tine length with mass for days! I am confident he will be harvested this year and hopefully the story will be shared with this hunting community.

Geno I think I still do have that cape ... I'll roll around once November gets here . Life quiets down for a while then.

Robert ,I hope so too man . The anticipation sucks ..one more day to go.

Unit 52 MZ was one extremely tough hunt this year. This was my 6th consecutive hunt in there, and I don't know what happened, but the lights were turned off, and the electricity never came back on. I have never been in 52 in early Oct and experienced ZERO rutting activity. We did sneak down a knife ridge Sunday AM and basically got so close to a big bull that when I cow called, he blasted right back at me at 150yds. We came down the opposing spine, and sure enough he decided to take his 2 cows up the same way we descended...I saw him at 80yds and they bolted. Had another bull growl and grunt a few times, and then a bull bugled to catch up with his cows, but basically, I think the MZ hunt was on complete lock down. The only saving grace: My buddy shot a legit 320" bull in unit 52 on Sat evening. He was alone and came up a historic trail connecting water/food/dark timber that always produces a bull on opening day. This 6x7 was the biggest bull I've ever seen harvested in 52 although I've seen similar bulls that never got shot.

Interesting we experienced the total opposite on my dads muzzle hunt in 52 this year? In the area we were the bulls were on absolute fire in the am . we had them screaming till almost 11 the first morning and busted a few bulls out with no shot. We also saw a giant bull in 52 opening morning pushing 350-360 easy .. shocked the hell out of me . Needless to say as in the photos above that bull my dad whacked was screaming then went silent on his final approach but we had good bugling action and rutting behavior both mornings. Interesting how things can be so different in the same unit elk are strange creatures
