Did I miss anything? :)

Had to get into the wet bush eh?
Did you toast with a Kokanee or Hudson Bay rye,Eh?
Congrats Mosey!
See any elk up there? I never did when I was there years ago.I did see a moose one day at a pond I was fishing.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-13-17 AT 09:07AM (MST)[p]We saw a bunch of elk driving up--they're expanding their range north, but the last ones we saw were near Smithers, which was a few hundred miles south of this area (Dease Lake). You're right about the wet bush, too. Any dry ground was choked with fur trees so it was near impossible to walk through. Everything else was swamp, marsh, lakes, or rivers.

Two words: muck boots.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-13-17 AT 01:44PM (MST)[p]I spent a month @ Cape Beal Lighthouse & Bamfield area back in 80's. Was wet 99% of the time & still had a blast. Wore hip boots every were...lol. Came back with tons of salmon & halibut,a buck & a bear.

Right on Mozey! Didn't even know you had this trip on the books, glad to see you do well!

Ran into this guy on our way out, but he wasn't too bothered. He seemed content to just munch on his salad...

There were fresh grizzly tracks near our camp ever morning, but otherwise they never bothered us. My guide and my buddy both saw the same grizzly one morning, but he was headed over a mountain directly away from camp.

Wow Mozey!
What a beautiful animal. How much meat do you get off an animal of that size, how does it taste and finally did they have to split the antlers for travel?

Thanks Joe

Joe, I actually never weighed the meat but the boned out meat filled two large and one medium coolers. I did all of the butchering myself and I estimate that it took about 40 hours. I had to buy a new freezer to fit it all. I would say the taste is very comparable to oryx--very good. Per my estimate, if I eat some every day, it will take me about two years to eat it all.

I drove, so I was able to haul all of the meat, cape and antlers back. The drive took four days each way, but I had business in Seattle the week before, so I was able to get my employer to pay for that leg of the trip. Because I drove, there was no need to split the antlers.
