My nephew and I both had 3rd season CO tags. But my unit was about 300 miles north. So my goal was to get Mikey filled out quick on a respectable buck.

Opening morning we only saw a few does,On sunday we spotted a buck walking with a doe but they fed into some thick stuff.I thought they had went to bed but 5 minutes later I glassed up the doe across an opening with the buck in tow.

He was a very good buck and Mikey was in prone positon as the buck came out,I was already thinking it don't get better than this as the buck came out at 200 yrds broadside.I was talking Mikey thru the shot, only to see him hit low,and miss. multiple badwords were coming out of my mouth.lol.

I asked where he aimed he said high shoulder so I wasn't sure what happened.

On Monday we were at the same spot and this buck came out at 100 yrds and Mikey came 2" from missing him.He is a super calm guy and dosent freak out.So I don't know what happened,All I knew Is I was gonna come home and grab my backup gun for my hunt.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-14-17 AT 07:45AM (MST)[p]On Tuesday we came home got more groceries and we were off on my hunt. The first morning we were way back in a deep canyon and I spotted a buck chasing does he was far. He bedded,Mikey and I were having a hard time seeing what he was.But he finally turned his head our way and was inside his ears and not what I came for.

The next morning we were on our way to the same spot and saw 2 really good bucks crossing in the headlights but headed into thick timber. At least we knew they were around,Seemed like pre rut and they were out looking for groups of does at night.

The next couple of days we seen a few forks and groups of does but no mature bucks.I only had one day left.Sunday morning I went back to an area I had spotted some does and started glassing.I spotted this buck walking by himself he stayed out a bit to long and made a mistake. One shot at 200 yrds thru the lungs and my tag was filled.

Way to stick with it Miguel! I'll let you know how we do on the 4th season, heading up manana and hunting Thursday-Sunday.

Hunt Hard. Shoot Straight. Kill Clean. Apologize to No One.

And now Miguel. You always get it done cuz you put in the time. Congrats and always look forward to your hunt results.

Well Done Brother Man!

Another fine buck for your wall. Was going to be a tough-act-to-follow after the successful hunt your dad made. The buck your Dad killed was a truly awesome beast! Congrats on your success!
