Youth ibex success

LAST EDITED ON Dec-30-17 AT 05:44PM (MST)[p]On day 2 of the youth ibex season we located this big billy ibex and the second we glassed him up we knew he was the one. We put a 3 1/2 hr stalk on him and managed to get within range. He was cliffed up and would have fallen hundreds of vertical feet so we were forced to wait him out. After 45 minutes he made the mistake to get out of his bed and he moved into a workable area. Lee made a couple great shots and this rare amazing opertunity was now etched in our memories for life. Lee drew the only one youth nonguided tag available and he made the most of it. All the days at the range and practice paid off. He had done it!!! He and I did this hunt DIY and without any of my buddies able to spot for us we got to share in this memory together just he and I. It was one of my finest moments as a dad watching confidence and determination at just 13 yrs old. I would like to thank a couple of you MM members who were so kind to share your past experiences and advice. You help make this great hunt what it was. Thank You!!

Shot was 600 yds. He has proved himself to me behind the rifle time and time again and with light wind and our rifle setup, I knew it was a done deal. As far as taping him out. I'm not up on sci scoring. He was 40 long x2 sides and 8 3/4 base x2 sides. Whatever he taped out at he is a trophy in our eyes. Going to make the most beautiful and impressive Mount we have.
