My Archery Mule deer buck

Here is my NM archery buck. I was contemplating on posting the graphic pic of What the coyotes did, but it's life. We spotted this older rutting buck. Snuck in on him and made a pretty long poke on him late in the evening. Tracked him for about 150yds and stopped because it was to dark. Left him over night and came in first thing this morning and finished a short tracking job to find out the coyotes ate EVERYTHING! Coyotes are Thieves! I was so happy and bummed at the same time. Still very grateful for a great and tough hunt!

I saw your other pic. Amazing how much they cleaned up that carcass just overnight. Sorry you lost your meat, but, that is a great old buck. Congrats

Thanks Ono. I was on coyote patrol afterward!

Congrats on the buck but that's unreal what the coyotes did overnight!! I had to leave a buck overnight during rifle season and was worried but got lucky.

Yes I knew I was taking a chance but i would?ve rather found the deer rather to have never found him. I hit him in liver/ high lung by my guesstimates.
Some were saying maybe it was a wolf but I highly doubt it.
Either way they had a buffet and I'm sure are fat and sassy.

Several years back, my dad and uncle were hunting one unit for deer, an I was hunting a neighboring unit. We camped near the border and went our separate ways to hunt. I get back to camp on the second night, and they are not back yet. I know where they are hunting, so I take a drive, see their flashlights on a hill. Get up to them, and my dad had just shot a buck, a little before dark. They are both handicapped, so it took them a while to get across the canyon after the shot. We found blood, but not what we were hoping for as far as the amount, decided to back off and come back in the am. I stayed to help them, got on the blood and found the deer within a hundred yards. Two good hits, just did not bleed good. Well, the coyotes had already found him, and he looked like yours. They only ate less than half of him though, but peed all over the rest. Ruined all the meat. Needless to say, after that, I decided to get some revenge on them.

*We are all in the same boat, just
wishing to be hunting right now!*
