Gila Elk

Just curious what the hunting is like on the Gila. Ive done research here on MM and Gohunt and it looks like all the Gila units hold elk and any of the units are going to be a good hunt. Im not going to be putting in this year do to a new addition to the family on his way. Just doing research. But is there one unit over the other that is better? I will be doing archery more than likely and just wanting to kill a bull honestly doesn't matter size to me. Thanks guys

Well, GMU 16B is genuine legislative wilderness. Unless you day-hunt the boundary and hike out every night, you shouldn't run into any 4-wheelers or road hunters. Planning a hunt to deal with those limitations is a different ball of wax compared to pulling the popup behind your truck. Some units have more privately owned land that can make access a little more difficult.

Gila elk units are a tough draw.....especially for NR....if you dont care about size of bull I'm sure there are other units with much better draw odds.

I'm assuming you're a NR? Dirt bag is right. If caliber of bull isn't an issue you're much better off applying in other units. Odds are tough in the Gila and it's not because the elk numbers.
