In 2012 the antler growth was one of the worst years I seen. They are saying this is the worst winter for precip in 125 years.I haven't even put in yet and already wondering if we continue on this dry spell if the units will even be open.Man let's hope we end this winter with some decent moisture

Elk and deer I am seeing look fine for this time of year. Very mild winter so they do not seed as much food. Expecting some precipitation next week. I doubt anything drastic like closing units. Probably wont be great year for horn growth, but, hunting is hunting.

I agree with NMPaul, from what I have noticed lately is the elk and deer are looking very good going into the spring. They had plenty of feed and a very mild winter with little to no stress. Yes things could change for the worst if we don't get some spring moisture but overall I wouldn't get to concerned just yet. This is referencing the southwest area of NM. One good shot of rain and the mood will change again!

Gonna be a rough summer. 2012 was the year the biggest fire in NM.Whitewater baldy.Antelope herds really got hit hard that year too.I'm hoping too we can get some good moisture to finish off the winter.

Critters still looking very healthy this year in SW,but we need some more snow or rain. Hopefully in next couple weeks. Til then hopefully Monsoons will come,& early. Springs & seeps pretty dry now. NO snowpack to speak of here.

Yes it's looking to be a dry fall. So everyone skip the elk app and try Colorado so I can finally have a chance to draw an elk tag. Lol
