If you could realistically draw one of your tags this year, what would it be?
Mine would be any of my archery elk tags.

How about you?

Good luck to everyone this year.

Icy, I applied for every species except stink pig, I've been drooling over an ibex tag forever ! Bighorn as well! In the end it's ELK ,ALWAYS WILL BE TOO! Singing bulls in September never get played out.

I hear that! It's so tough to beat an elk hunt.
You've put in your time for sure though, I would say you're due for that Ibex tag!!!!
Good luck this year.

After finally getting a taste for Ibex hunting on the depredation tag this year, I'm hooked! I want that Billy tag. haha

If no Ibex, I would like my Dad to get a good Elk tag. He's never gotten a real nice bull, just hasn't been lucky in the draw. Hoping this is his year.

"realistically draw"???

Sure, why not a Desert BHS. Or I'll settle for a VC elk tag, to be more realistic.

I've got bighorn, Ibex OIL, and Oryx on my apps... those are pipe dreams.
My other applications are more well balanced and give me the most realistic chance of drawing. So that's where I was going with this.

Desert down, rocky mountain to go--but if NM wants to give me an ibex instead, I won't complain.

Tuesday I applied for elk, deer, antelope, oryx, and bighorn sheep.

Yesterday I couldn't help it and logged back on to apply for Ibex and Barbary as well...

I'd really like a sheep tag but would be pretty stoked to draw one of the archery elk tags for the gila.

We'll see what happens in a month!

LAST EDITED ON Mar-22-18 AT 09:13AM (MST)[p]2nd archery Elk in my first or second unit choice.

I've had off-range oryx, antelope and many different muley hunts, nothing compares to hunting elk in mid September with a bow.

Been trying for southern nm elk tag for 11 years (36). Maybe this is the year. If not I would be plenty happy with a deer tag

Oh wow!!!! You should have at least draw some of those tags a few times by now. I hope this year is your year!

LAST EDITED ON Mar-22-18 AT 10:43AM (MST)[p]I put in for

BHS
Oryx
Rifle Ibex
Rifle Antelope

And will draw none of those unless lightning strikes.

I did put in with a guide for a sandhills deer hunt and have a 40% chance of getting a green square on that one. Not cheap but I have been wanting to learn the unit for a long time.

That said NM has been more than good to me. Since 2010 I have drawn a 16D 2nd rifle elk, two 16E rile elk and the 36 archery deer tag.

OK, I will realistically draw my 3rd choice elk because it's essentially 100%, but I sure hope I don't. I'm hoping to at least draw my 2nd choice instead, at ~20%.

But I'm also hoping for a pipe dream!

iccy, I did and am glad to hear it.She is very passionate about them andthe biologist before her was amazing and left her in very good terms and she picked up and has grown that program....She is A+ in my books...

That's great to hear!
She was very pleasant in our chats and this just gets me so excited for the turkey future.

I'm going to kill one this fall because I am going to draw that elk tag!!!

Actually it was 4. Hour behind on here . I had to be at work at 5! Idk buddy ,I'll be pretty upset if you snag my tag? haha message me what elk hunts you applied for.

Any species of Bighorn Sheep of course!! But Elk is always my number 1!!

Still hoping to hunt the Gila /Aldo Wilderness just once for elk. Or any true Gila tag...any local deer would be fine by metoo.

Elk in September....doesn't get ant better. Bow hunting Gila Monsters is the ultimate thrill. I've already been blessed with my OIL Ibex, Oryx and RMBH. To pull a Desert BH would be amazing , guess that would trump a Gila Elk tag.....but just barely lol.
