Jemez FR 144

Does anyone know if Forest Road 144 has been opened yet? I called the Jemez Ranger Station but they can never answer a question directly, they will only tell me all forest roads will be open between April 15th and May 1st. I know in the past they have opened the gates well before the 15th for spring turkey hunting. I do know FR 10 was open this weekend at least the lower part anyways.

I was headed up to the fish hatchery with my kids this past weekend and Gates were still closed. Don?t know why? Didn?t have any snow this winter

Thanks for the feedback. I'm hoping they open the gate on Friday. I know there is no way a Forest Service employee is going to get up Sunday morning the 15th to open gates. Also can not imagine FS keeping turkey hunters locked out but who knows???

We will have to see what the FS determines about the lack of moisture and fire danger. It's crazy dry in the Jemez. We?ve been hauling water all winter.

Lower part of FS rd 10 still open but upper gates were still closed this morning with about 10+ vehicles waiting for the gate to be opened. FS rd 376 was open from state rd 126 and didn't make it to fs rd 144 to see if gate was open.
Hiked and called about 3 miles nothing. Way too dry and crunchy. Saw camper hiking around with a cigarette and I said to myself. Don?t start any fires.
Game and fish was in full force checking licenses
