LAST EDITED ON Apr-17-18 AT 01:47PM (MST)[p]After scouting many public properties over the years, finally stumbled on this one in Illinois totally off the radar. Tons of birds and zero other hunters two years in a row. Only 2 birds harvested off 10,000 acres last year. This guy weighed in at 22 1/2#. Last year's was an even 25#. Heaviest I've ever harvested.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-17-18 AT 01:53PM (MST)[p]Posted on the other thread, got this one Sunday AM. A little bit of dumb luck never hurts, and I was overdue.

Forgot the scale, but was 13.7 lbs dressed at home, I think that is about average.

Also shot a bearded hen in the evening, first time I've tagged out on opening day.

The new tags are a bit of a pain, they are way too long and skinny. Not so easy to stick back-to-back and keep it neat. I guess wrapping it around an elk antler would be a better test, hope to find out in the Fall!

And nice bird Zim, I assume that's an Eastern.

Jesse, is that one a Merriam's? Seems like it doesn't have enough white on it.

Yes sir!! Thanks!! I was at work ha ha and she killed this guy. Was definitely a nice break from work ha ha. Thanks!!

Yes it was. It was really green too. It was weird
