New Exotics Rule Proposed

Jim, does that mean that they feel they have the number of Ibex down to what they want. I was getting worried that they were trying to exterminate them.

Still waiting on my OIL oryx, so I like your idea a lot after I get it. :)

It doesn't say in the proposal, but when listening to the game commission meeting, I got the impression that the Ibex pop is down close to where they want it. So they were going to stop the depredation hunts, but have more "regular" draw F-IM tags to keep the pop stable.

Paul-

Not sure if you noticed it seems that NMDGF is recommending one thing while WSMR is recommending another.

I like the WSMR proposal......put the OIL up front and let folks have at it trying for one of those.....let others apply the later season no restriction hunts.

Not sure why NMDGF won't listen to the WSMR biologists.

Jim

PS-The new pronghorn rule is a wreck! 5 years from now, the population will be ruined, especially with drought years like we are having now.

I agree with Jim . I'm kind of on the fence about the ibex. I think there are less nannies than billies right now . Why not hold off on the nanny hunts and offer more Billy tags?

Until the OIL hunts get better odds, only open the new trophy hunts to OIL hunters. Increase the off range numbers slightly and go with that. I also don't agree with opening the Iraq/Afghan vet hunts to all vets. Again until the odds are better for desert vets to draw, leave it alone. Maybe increase the tags for Iraq/Afghan vets, but don't open it to all vets.

On range should stay OIL. Odds are already terrible and if you have had your turn you should step aside and let others have a chance. I'm not a vet but would favor increasing the number of vet tags more significantly than civilian tags.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-22-18 AT 05:09PM (MST)[p]First. I don't think I mind the change to barbs. Might hurt the quality in some areas with tag increases.

The oryx I noticed is a concern. I did t like the comments of NMGF want one thing and the military another. Also I wonder if adding more oryx hunts on base creating pressure would drive more oryx off range?? I too agree with you Jim!

The ibex I don't have a problem with they are probably prolific little guys anyway.

I'm afraid a little of that last statement about the pronghorns also.
