All you muzzy junkies,I have a ? I want some input on which round you all find to be the most precise in grouping, also best shooting out to 300 yards. PLEASE NO POWER BELT REPLIES HAHA.. Thank you!

LAST EDITED ON Apr-20-18 AT 02:06PM (MST)[p]Haven't muzzy hunted in a 3-4 years, but if you are asking about 50 cal sabots I had luck with the Hornaday SST's, 250 grn for antelope/deer and 300 gr for elk. That was from a TC Impact with BH209 powder. I have a muzzy elk tag this year so I will be shooting these combos again soon. In the past I got good/great groups at 200 yds, but did not test it beyond that.

But from my experience sabot rounds can be extraordinarily finicky, what might shoot great in one gun will be terrible in another, just trial and error. Or within the same gun the powder charge can have a huge effect.

If you are looking for a non-sabot round that's a whole nother can of worms.

Good luck!

Barnes 250 gr. TMZ or TEZ is what I use. They've performed very well on everything I've shot with them (elk and deer). I limit myself to 250 yards, but if I was going to shoot farther, I'd give the Parker bullets a long look as their B.C. is really exceptional and will help with wind-drift issues at longer ranges.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-20-18 AT 02:57PM (MST)[p]I shoot hornady sst 250 gr. BH209 100 grains out of a tc pro hunter fx. Extremely accurate.

I've shot power belts, sst's, shockwaves, and a few others mainly deer and elk. Luckily I never lost an animal due to poor bullet performance because some of these left a lot to be desired. With that being said, shot placement and distance means everything with a smoke pole. The last several years I've been shooting Hornadys . 300 grain FPB bullet pushed by 110 gr of Blackhorn powder . My T/C Omega loves em and they've performed very well on four bulls and one cow. Best part is no sabot no plastic cup no cloth patch just pure bullet . Of course every rifle should be experimented with different loads to find it's liking. Oh yeah, and I did shoot the cow elk twice although she was dead on her feet she just didn't know it. They?re tough animals and we owe it to them to make a well placed shot for a quick and humane kill.

I like barnes tmz 250 and 100 grains blackhorn 209. They shoot good out of my tc omega and my dads cva optima. The did really good on elk and deer.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-20-18 AT 04:15PM (MST)[p]Wow!!! Thank you all for your help!! I do like barns and federal .I did look up those Parker's man they look good. It's for a killer deer hunt and want something that shoots really accurate and can travel some distance with some what good energy. I'll definitely look into these . Just a side note I'm just not a Hornady fan. Thank you all so much. I'm thinking of buying an Ultimate, anybody have any other suggestions on rifles that can be accurate at 300 and in?

250gr Barnes TEZ here out of my TC with 110gr BH209. Worked on both elk and speedgoat. Gun loves it so stickin with it.

250 grain barnes tmz has worked great for me on deer and elk. I plan to use them again this fall. Plenty accurate at 300 yards but the wind messes with it too much at that range. I feel full confident at 250 yards

Parkers, but, every time you pull the trigger it not only hurts your shoulder, it hurts your pocket book. They are pretty proud of them.

Purchased an ultimate remington and parker bullets last year. very pleased with the results and with some practice, I bet you will be comfortable with a 400 yard shot in ideal conditions, as long as you can use a scope.

Best of luck in your hunt
