Stolen hunting gear in Roswell

Over the weekend I was finally able to make a trip out in search of some deer in unit 32. Hunted all morning just to turn up some does and several forkies. Around 1 in the afternoon I decided to head back home in Roswell to get a little break from the heat. As I got home I decided to leave all my hunting gear in my truck while I went inside to rest and figure out the evening hunt. Well turned out my wife had made plans for the evening that I was unaware of, so my evening hunt was spoiled. Sunday morning I realized I had forgot to take all my gear from truck but didn't think it was a big concern since I live in a relatively quiet community. So I went to my truck and noticed my glove box and center counsel were open with papers thrown on the floor. My stomach immediately dropped when I noticed by bow, binoculars, and rangefinder were gone. Not only did they break into my pickup but they broke into to several others in my neighborhood. It makes me sick to my stomach when I think about these low life P.O.S. idiots going through my stuff. If I could just get my hands on these people that steel from hard working citizens I guarantee you it would be an awful scene. So my fellow hunters keep a close eye on your hard earned gear because some crack head out there is willing to steel it in a heartbeat. I guess the deer hunt will have to wait till January.

Sorry for your loss, I don't care where you live or how safe a place is, there are always thieves lurking. Never ever ever leave anything of value where it can been seen. Too many stories like this keep popping up. Even at camp it is a good idea to leave a trail cam pointed at camp because they will clean you out at camp also.

sucks. Roswell is a rough town. I lock everything no matter where. except maybe ABQ. That place is has no crime.

Here in Albuquerque u would be lucky if they just took your bow and binos. If they would be able to steal your entire house, I'm certain they would try.

Had my bow stolen out of back of truck here in Hobbs a few years back, but that was part my wife's fault. She moved the case out of cab to give the boys more room and didn't put it back. At least it was an 10 year old bow! Still you ought to be able to leave stuff out in your truck bed, let alone locked in your cab.

If you got pictures take them around to the Pawns shops and see if they will give ya a call.
My buddy truck was broken into in ALBQ and 1 year later he got his Swaro Bino back because a pawn shop called him because someone tried to pawn them.

Sorry to hear this. I too have left gear in truck at home , just not my guns or bows but plenty of other gear...I agree with above post tho , hate that stuff in truck beds is no longer safe from thieves!

Any suggestions on the latest and greatest bows out there? My stolen bow was a Mathews ZXT so I'm kind of leaning towards another Mathews. I've looked at the Triax and it seems to be a sweet bow based on the reviews. I'm a little gun shy on purchasing another bow right now as I wait to see if anything will get recovered.

Sad part of latest and greatest only lasts one year. They new bows come out better, faster, smoother. It's crazy how fast a $1000 bow becomes a $400 bow in a couple years.

With having all my stuff stolen last year and now hearing your?s and others having the same problem, if I draw a tag I'm going to bring a non-hunter along to cook, etc and protect
camp or go on a guided hunt.
