Good year for you all to have a tag. They didn't kill chit in the archery hunts. You all should be able to pick off all the herd bulls. I'll be home waiting for the calls to come in.

I hope you are right. Wife and I have Unit 15 tags. Just got back from scouting trip seen a couple good bulls.

First time muzzleloader hunting- unit 36 for my 2 sons this year Oct 6-10. Glass and get in range? or expect to be able to call them?

1.Should be able to call and get a response.
2. Move into range
3. Make smoke
4.Take some pics
5.Start packing out
6.Get to camp and open bottle of crown and enjoy.

I hope ur right!! Oct 6-10 unit 52 in the dark of the moon. Seems like it has the potential for great hunting. Cant wait

Sure haven't heard of many Bulls taken up here in 53.... So the muzzie hunt could be good. But we don't have as many Elk in 53 as we once did.

Swampokie, I'll be down there on the same hunt. Good luck to you guys. If you see a 2-tone white & beige f350, come say howdy.

6. Won?t be on list - it?ll be me Dad and my 13 & 15 yo boys, but we will enjoy!

Scott,
Geno is absolutely right! I hate this phrase but"FISH IN A BARREL" in the better quality units. The elk are still behind schedule! I'll be in the Gila for the first rifle and am expecting the hunter to be done opening morning ?

They killed plenty in this unit for the second archery. Nothing real big although I saw a bull allegedly killed from the 16's that was a 380+ bull. I know a 340 was killed out of potato patch. We saw plenty of good bulls although the early drought seems to have affected antler growth. I'll send you a private message with some food for thoughts!

I drew for both elk and deer(please don't shoot me) for my second time putting in for the draw. My deer tag is in 13 for muzzleloader at the end of October. Being new to the sport of hunting, do deer act/rut roughly the same time as elk in the same area?

I'm super excited to go on my first deer hunt and would be happy with a fork buck. Looking forward to filling the freezer.

Thanks!

I'll be in the Valle Vidal for daughters muzzy hunt and hopefully Genos instructions can be followed to the T, even though he bailed on the invite! I even told him he wouldnt have to pack out a darn thing since we'll have horses on standby! Lol I'll add a #6 for sbeard4 to my list!! Crown to be substituted with Woodford Reserve.....

Just got back from my yearly trek to VV for sightseeing and bugling fix. Worst eyar ive seen so far for bugling called in 1 7x6 but he was the only bull i heard in 5 days . Colors on trees are normally full color pahse this dates and they are about 2 weeks behind as well. Not alot of bugling action at all and lots of traffick . the texans have figured this place out

We will be looking for u. We will be in blue dodge with dixie plate on front

Went up yesterday evening and they were going nuts! Found about 15 bulls within an hour and they made it easy with non-stop bugling. Found this guy with about 20 cows chasing satellites and sniffing tail. Looks promising for wknd but weather is supposed to roll in and winds are going to be tough.
