First time I've mulled getting a leftover antelope tag. I Have a friend who offered to take me hunting on a ranch near Buffalo and another who has access to a place near Gillette. Don't know much about either area. Does anyone know if you can get two leftover antelope tags. Thinking about getting tags for both if that's possible.

You can buy as many as 4 leftover doe antelope or doe deer tags if they are available in July when the leftovers go on sale and you don't have any from the draws. If the ranches are in units that have tags left you could buy all four in one unit, two in each, etc. for a total of four for the year. The leftover lists are already up on the G&F website and if you haven't looked to see what's available where you want to hunt just go in this Forum and click on the link that PleaseDear (Robb) just posted earlier today.

EDIT: Just checked for you and all the units (9) surrounding Buffalo and Gillette have from 120 to 531 tags left per unit, so you should have no problem getting what you want and not have to worry about being signed in to buy them right away when they go on sale to get them with that many left.

Yes, you can buy two buck antelope tags if they are available as leftovers if you haven't drawn any, but only a total of two in a calendar year. Those could be in the same or different units just like the doe tags. However, they are full price and 4 does tags are a lot cheaper than just one buck tag for NRs ($34 a piece for does compared to almost $300 for a buck).

Like Topgun said yes you can have up to 2 buck tags for many of the units in central state - if you have good access near Buffalo and its in unit 22 I'd grab those. I hunt that general area and some of the nicer bucks I've seen taken the last 3-4 years come out of 22 - granted they come of private but it does grow some good bucks with nice mass.

PM sent.

Not to hi-jack anyone's thread but I've talked to my wife about taking her out to the northeast corner to hunt goats this fall. Looking at area 19 and 17 around Gillette. Can't find much on goat numbers in the areas. Looking over maps access looks difficult. Anyone prefer one over the other? Not looking for trophies just a decent buck.

My wife is thinking she wants to start hunting and Im going to register her in the Mentor Program. Her favorite meat is antelope so I'd like to take her lope hunting, we live in Kemmerer and wouldnt mind driving out to the Gillette area if access is decent. What about area 70?
