LAST EDITED ON Aug-11-16 AT 09:55AM (MST)[p]Anybody else get an email with season date changes?

I called the main office in Cheyenne and they've been flooded with calls regarding the email. I guess it's caused some confusion

The email showed general season dates for September 10th. (????)

It sounds crazy that they'd make changes after the regulations have already been established for this season.

So what is the deal? Is there like one area the general is good for that starts the 10th?

Yup got it. Anyone see for sure if the 10th is correct for deer opener? Crazy if that's correct. I'll be making a call at 8am to see wuts up!!

So what about this doesn't anyone get? Wow, I guess the "Season correction" threw everyone off? I think they meant hunting season is here. This is right off the email:

Season correction: Get ready for hunting

Always remember to refer to the Game and Fish hunting regulations for details on hunt areas, open and closing dates, closed sections, bag limits, and other restrictions.

Season correction: Get ready to hunt

Opening on August 15: bighorn sheep

That's how I read it....as a correction....and we have new dates.

I suppose I'm just a dummy but when I read "correction" and then new dates, it sounds like a new opening date to me and this email amends the regulations.

Some guys are going to get a jump on the season this year. ha

Seasonal change is what they should have wrote; I'm sure that is what they mean. Read the next line, i.e. check the regs...

No one ever said I was the sharpest tool in the shed and yes it does say check the regs.

I hope you can appreciate some of the humor in my posts.

He's patrolling the I-80 right-of-way, handing out warnings to anyone that has parked along it.

Another uncalled for smartass comment from the peanut gallery, but what else is new! I read the emails and had absolutely no problem with them just as jm77 didn't. Hope you're happy now that I'm back on here after cutting grass today and missing the nice comments about me earlier, LOL!

The email said correction and season date changes. It also said September 10th for General season. But like you said, the email also said follow the regs.
My regs show My general season is September 15th. So I was alittle confused. But apparently I wasn't the only one confused either. They had many calls.

It's my first hunt in Wyoming. So forgive the newbie! Ha

Glad Topgun and others can clarify. Or did they?
If changes were made that don't affect me and my hunt, I'll move along. But this newbie needed clarification.
Carry on!

I figured they wouldn't change opening day this late in the game but I was hoping to get me a Giant HYBRID on the 10th before lots of people realized it was open!!!

LAST EDITED ON Aug-12-16 AT 05:39PM (MST)[p]Once the Final Regulations are signed off in late April by the G&F Commission very seldom is a change made unless it's of an emergency nature. The wording in the email was not the best, as was pointed out, and if you haven't hunted out there for years like I have I can see how it could have been misconstrued.

I agree with this, but change "very seldom is" to "there is never".

NO! The only season for elk that open 9/10 is LQ 82-4 for cow calf and there are only 25 permits issued. Check all the Regulations on the G&F website just like the email said!

Here's the more recent sending to fix their poor choice of words:

I'm not a betting man, but I doubt anyone that is caught hunting out of season will be able to get off by saying they read that email seeing as how it definitely said to check the Regulations.
