Cow elk unit 31

Looking for some last minute help for elk in 31.
We have 2 cow tags for 31.
Always wanted to hunt there and look over the area and scout for a future 102 deer hunt.
We have antelope tags in 59 and 112 too.

But need help with areas to scout in 31 for elk.
will be in the unit a week before the opener scouting and playing.
Just a fun family hunt.

I would start looking lower in the unit. if my memory is good enough there is a road that breaks off not far from where it starts dropping down to the border...take that and start glassing. elk should be everywhere.

Drive around until you see some cow elk.

Get out and shoot one.

End of story.

If that seems too easy, then walk around and do the same thing.

31 is not a big unit.

You'll find elk there.

Our friends just moved from Rock springs to the east coast so we lost our contact.
Taking our Daughter in law on her first elk hunt.
The girls have the cow tags, my son wife and I have lope buck tags in 59 for a fun combo meat hunt.
I hear just drive around little mtn.
I've hunted elk in 24,48,120,91 and 100 in wyo but always wanted to see this great unit.
I just want to rut a few bulls too.
Any thoughts on a camping spot for the wall tent?

Have the same tag. Going to start working my way up there this weekend and hunt all next week with my bow. Maybe see you out there.

Had to forego my scouting trip and go home for a funeral instead but I've heard good things about the unit and am looking forward to getting it up there and checking it out myself!
