Reccomended Route to Douglas from Boise

Driving over next week for my Antelope Hunt...Mapquest shows 3 routes all relatively close as far as travel time. What would you recommend?

1. Thru Salt Lake and up from there
2. Through Soda, rock springs, and in from there
3. Idaho Falls, Jackson, and in from there

Really am thinking the route through SLC but just not sure. Does it really even matter?

I-84 east from boise to ogden. To the I-80 interchange. East on I-80 through Evanston and rock springs. To rawlins. Hwy 287 north to casper. I-25 east to douglas.

Any route that takes you through Rock Springs is the way I would go. The rest of the state is ugly as sin but RS is a little slice of heaven.

Also from rock springs to rawlins then to muddy gap. From muddy gap to Casper. Cant recall the road names

You don't need to go all the way into Salt Lake. You can turn off at Ogden and head to Evanston. From there Rawlins to Casper to Douglas.

Good luck on you hunt.

Are you traveling in the light or the dark? Dark freeway all the way around. Daylight head out across the state. Lots to see out there especially if you have some time. I have taken several different routes and enjoyed them all. At night some of those roads will have 10 critters for every car you see.

Thanks for all the feedback...I am leaving at midnight friday morning the 30th and driving the 13 hours hoping to arrive around early to mid afternoon.

Going to stick to the interstate and go through the Ogden - Evanston route.

Thanks!

The thing you have to watch about the travel times is that they compute at the speed limit, so if you aren't driving 80 some of those routes will be much longer than the roads with a 65mph speed limit.

Take 80 to Laramie then turn north on 287 to Highway 34 through Sybille Canyon to I-25 north to Douglas. 34 is an interesting drive by the G&F research station with big bulls in the pens. Lots of bighorn sheep can be seen also. Laramie is a good spot for food and beer, The Library.
