I drew 54-1 NW of Cody and I heard there were some fires around Pat O'Hare area? Looked on the web and saw a few news reports that validated the fires...but were they isolated areas or huge patches of country?

There is nothing to worry about in 54-1. I saw a nice bull there just a few days ago. The biggest fires were Hunter Peak in 51-1 and a large fire south of the Wapiti Highway near Sheep Mountain. Your unit got about 4" of snow today.

The other big fire was in Crandall by hunter peak. But far enough away from you

Mighty-Would you be interested in fielding a general question regarding public assess into 54-1? I have an idea that is sort of away from the typical look-out points, and since you may live close to the unit, your insight could prove to be helpful. thanks chris

Just PM'ed you back. I also have an "in" with a guy who drew the bow tag in unit 54-1 and had horses for his entire trip. Once he gets home I should have some more intel. I'm gathering the elk sneak up into the breaks from the private and settle into the steep wind swept ridges
