99-7 doe tags

LAST EDITED ON Oct-12-16 AT 07:17PM (MST)[p]my wife drew 2 doe tags for this unit. i put her in for this area cuz its closer to home and with her busy schedule, she cant do more than just day outings. plus i thought "hey its wyoming, theres goats everywhere, shouldnt be a hard to find a couple to shoot". turns out i was wrong. we went up mid september hoping to find some to chase. all we could find were a handful of bucks. and by a handful, i mean 6. covered almost the entire unit that the tag is good for. im not kidding, we literally looked everywhere. only does we saw all day were in the town of Evanston on the south east side of it. didnt dare shoot them there, even though they were on BLM ground, there were homes pretty close. didnt want to make anyone mad. ive been to this unit in the spring time and seen quite a few in the area, but last month left me pretty confused. i noticed her tags are valid until the end of november, leading me to believe that this could possibly be a migration hunt? im not asking for spots to go (unless you have any suggestions you would be willing to give), im just asking that maybe some locals could fill me in on if the success on this unit does rely on a migration or if its just one of a select few sucky units in wyoming? i was planning on making a return trip mid november to see what could have maybe moved in. ive hunted lots of goats before, i know how to locate them. but this last trip kicked my butt! id like to see her get on a few, but theres always next year if she doesnt get that chance. any input about this hunt would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

on a side note: if anyone has a buck deer tag for this unit and is looking for something unique that wont score well, but is BIG, i'll be happy to tell you where i saw him at.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-12-16 AT 08:37PM (MST)[p]There's usually plenty of antelope in that area, though this year a lot of private ground was opened up, I believe. There should be more moving in as the season progresses.

They can't hunt south of mountain view. The 99-7 tag only allows them to hunt Northwest of highway 410. My suggestion would be is to check out the hunter management areas. If I remember right there should be two of them. You go online to Wyoming game and fish and request the permission slips for the properties that allow access. Good Luck!

The hunter management areas that allow hunting with the designated permission slips are piedmont, knight ridge, and coyote creek. Simply fill out the permission slip information on these hunter management areas and hunt. There should be plenty of doe antelope on these property but you'll have to walk in to the areas from designated parking spots.

We did that when we went up last month. Checked those areas out. That's where we saw some of the goats, but all were bucks. Like I said, we checked everywhere that we could hunt on that tag haha

We were up in Piedmont this past weekend and filled five tags. There are plenty of antelope. I'll PM you my phone number and give you some directions.
