Area 78 French creek

Hello I was looking at possible trying to draw this unit, the rifle hunt as a non resident. How many points does it take to draw ? And has anyone drawn this unit before ? What was your experience?

Hunting mule deer

I think it takes at least 1 point as a NR. I have hunted elk in the area and last year saw 1 legal 3 point buck on the last day of deer season while I was scouting for elk. I know 15 years ago or so the deer were thick in there. I am sure there are deer around I just haven't hunted them since 2003. I actually looked at buying a deer point to go back there next fall and ended up passing since I could not convince any of my friends from home to go. Good Luck

I was also considering unit 117 deer rifle hunt . What unit would you suggest is a better hunt? -also how many points does it take to draw for this unit ?

If you have been building up many PPs you would be wasting a lot of them on 117, as it only took 2PPs to draw that Regular deer tag this season. If at all possible I would suggest if you have enough PPs (6 or more) that you try to work out dates in late September or the first half of October and use your PPs for Region G where IMHO that is the best chance of taking a big buck at the present time in Wyoming.

A few of us have hunted 78 quite a bit on and off over the years. Have gotten lucky and drawn it with no points as a non resident. The hunting is much better when bad weather pushes the deer down.
