Unit 7 elk draw

Okay I'm going uno the draw with 8 points and it looks like i can draw unit 7! my question is where do you find out how much landowners changer for access on the land and what part of the unit has good access to public land! I'm okay on killing a 300 bull with my points since i have already got a few nice bulls last year! just want to use my points up now! thanks for any info you can give me!

You won't draw 7-1 with 8PPs unless you go into the higher priced Special Draw, and that really isn't a sure think with PP creep. Last year those with 8PPs only drew at 49.28% in the Regular PP Draw while in the Special PP Draw <8PPs was 100% draw, but 7PPs was only 49.21%.

I planned on doing the special draw TOPGUN!

Look at the county gis for their web maps and call the blm. When I looked there was access, but limited, and miles of hiking to snake around the private that's inside the forest.

No easy answer on 7, lots of leg work needs to be done on this unit, sometimes a couple years worth to secure a couple places. Like you might find some, but all are already booked a year in advance w/guys w enough points to draw etc. County Office, name from GPS chip, local Fish and Game, local Game Warden, local BLM range manager etc. A little late in the game for 7, but enough time for next year.

Yeahhh...not to be a pr*ck but nothing like waiting 'till the last minute if you're thinking about 2017. 30 Hart has some good suggestions and you'll think of a few more if you're creative but it'll take time. If you're going to burn your points my suggestion is to take your time and have a solid plan. Good luck either way though.
