Region G vs Region H

I think this would be a good question for the founder!

I have hunted Region G twice and killed 180 class bucks both trips, I am wanted to try Region H but I know nothing about the Region. So my question is to anyone who wants to reply , would it be worth the time to try a new unit that I can draw with less points or should I stay after Region G? I am wanting a hunt trophy quality animals and understand what kind of time and effort that requires. Any info and help would be great.

Unfortunately if this winter continues the way it is, region G and H will be poor for deer hunting for several years IMO. We should know more in the next 2-3 months.

Stay Region G if you've already killed 180 bucks there. The top end bucks is where the difference is between G and H. On average you can expect a buck 10 points less in H then G. That being said they are there in H too, but harder to find than G because there are less of those top end bucks.

Both areas produce great bucks. However if you're already familiar with G and you've had good success, why mess with a good thing.

Major winter concerns in both hunt areas. Both are good but H has so much wilderness that its harder to find a place that isn't crowded. With that being said G can be pretty popular to. There is probably not better any better general hunt areas. People just need to keep in mind that they are both general units.

IMO, G is the better option, especially for non-residents because there's more places to hunt, more deer overall, less non-resident tags and 2 opening days. But, that being said, at the number of points it currently takes to get a tag, you could hunt G twice in 10 years and H 5 times in 10 years. I personally would rather go hunt more often in a slightly less desirable area. Like many places, there are big bucks in both areas, you just have to find one.
Me personally, I'd hunt whichever I could hunt the most often and just find a big buck to hunt, but I also have a little more time to spend on the mountain than many others.

Region H country outside the wilderness designation is usually really crowded. I have been in some areas in H, that made me think I had been transported to Utah. That being said, there are some great spots in H if you are willing to hike and get away from the horse trails. I can actually think of quite a few.

just sayin...mh
