BuzzH on Randy Newberg?

I believe its both BuzzH AND JM77. I finally started listening to that podcast today, but only got about 40 minutes into it because I was done driving to work, so I still got a lot to listen still.

Ill say this, Buzz and JM may be ornery sob's on this and other forums, but from what I listened to so far, and what I've seen you guys contribute here online, I feel like I owe you guys a debt of gratitude. Thank you for all you do in your state, thank you for seeing through all the BS, political stress, and you are surely mobilizing other people (including young guys like me) to try and do things for the wildlife/wild-places other than just getting a tag and "goin huntin'" every year. Respect.

LAST EDITED ON May-08-17 AT 11:06PM (MST)[p]^^^ Thanks Half, you still have some great stuff left to hear. Randy Newberg is great sportsman and public land advocate. I can't think of a guy who does as much for the sport of hunting as he does. I tip my hat to him and thank him for having us on the podcast. Great fun for sure!

Oh, and Founder comes up too, something I had never heard about!

JM, I look forward to hearing the rest.

As far as Randy goes, i agree 100%. I wouldn't know where to start thanking him if I ever met him. He's probably the most (or damn close to it) important advocate when it comes to public land and public land hunting out there. Glad he's not a tree hugger or we'd all be SOL!

And just for the record, I said "ornery sob's" with all due respect! ;-)

Yep; all three are great ambassadors for our sport and conservation in general. Kudos to all three of you guys!

Yes, Randy has always been a stand up guy! We need more like him! Jeff & Buzz are also a great asset in terms of public land and conservation! Pun intended: If we can keep those two on the right track, all's good. 90-10?
I like the part about the NR youth is our future! That's straight thinking there! Youth is our future, be it resident or nonresident! The fact that we are about to lose,(next decade) a large majority of hunters should be on everyone's mind!
Funding loss will be major in the future, and right now Wyoming has the lead for opportunity of all western states! When that's taken away, its a loss for all.

Something came up about me?

Yep

I don't think most people know how much personal time that Buzz and Jeff dedicate to supporting the public land hunter in both Wyoming and across the West. Thank God they are on our side! If they were SFW supporters we would all be in a world of hurt.

Anything new? Exciting? You gonna tell?

By "our side" he means hunters/conservationists and not people from any one state!

>Confused, Randy made it seem like
>Founder was in the debate.

Very sure he was talking about the "founder" of an organization.

Not working for people of any one state? whatever.

Then I assume you don't remember senate file 69? I remember it. and it was the outfitters working for us against these guys.

There are a lot of NR hunters who drew tags today who would not have if this bill had passed . do the math.

I don't blame them it's more tags in their pocket , one mans loss is another mans gain. but don't try to BS me.

Is that you 440, back from the dead? So just how does your state treat nonresidents these days?

JM77,

I have actually had several conversations with the ODFW director on the way NR are treated in Oregon. I believe that they slit their throats when they increased the NR license and folks will not be jumping in at the lower point levels. It might have gained some money in the short term, however the bell will toll when all of the folks that have an investment bail. Not everyone is against fair treatment of NR's, even in their own state.

I love Randy in the Sonic commercials.

But to be serious Randy does do a lot of good for public land hunting. I just can't stand listening to him.

"Go hunt for meat at Walmart."

I have to agree after listening to the other half today!......also notice a lot of "I's & Me",and then the,"how dumb or stupid everyone else is".

"Our side? I assume you're a resident."

Good assumption. I am also more concerned about keeping public land in public hands than I am about making sure I get my tag as soon as possible. From your reply I think I know which is more important to you.

I tried listening to Newberg but when he gets that condescending attitude and starts the preservationist "canary in the coal mine" spin, I'm out.

Nobody is a bigger advocate for protecting public lands than I am. find where I've ever taken the Republican's side on this issue. ever.

Protecting public lands is one issue. the allotment of tags to hunt on it is another. to tie one to the other as pork only plays to folks who can't focus on more than one topic at a time.

I won't defend how Oregon allots tags to the NR hunter, it's a total rip off and a sham. I've said that for years and as a resident I'll support any attempts to change it . my inability to change narrow minded self centered OR resident's minds doesn't mean I should support WY doing the same.

Everyone had their ax to grind, I get it. so on some things we can work together and on some we can't.

Not tying the two issues together at all. Simply taking what you implied that "our side" is nothing more than NR tag allocations and making sure you know there is something much bigger at play than that.

I wish you guys, who seem to have an issue with Randy, would just sign on to Hunttalk and air your thoughts there. It would be interesting to say the least.

I doubt you will though...

I can't believe as much as Randy does for all of us along with running a CPA business, his shows and podcasts, that anyone would say anything negative about the guy. None of us are perfect, but the guy is as good at what he does as anyone I could ever think of and IMHO we all owe him a huge debt of gratitude! Even with his busy schedule he had the time to send me a couple PMs wishing me and my wife well and prayers for her as she is dying in a Hospice facility near my home.

Great podcast- ditto to the shout out for these guys and all they contribute on these forums! It's always nice to see guys get past the 'little' things to address the big picture and big issues.
