Need Help! Deadline is soon, 3 buddies and I wanting to apply for tags for Deer and Antelope. 0 points for all of us and we've been doing our homework and have even had 2 of the 4 come out scouting already and really struggling on being able to find access to public and thinking we will be able to get tags . We are thinking of General Unit C for Deer as our best chance of drawing and hopefully find a Antelope unit within that general area. Not looking for anyone's spot but just a little direction in what our best odds are to get tags and have access to public and we will do the homework. Thanks for any Advice and best of Luck to everyone in the Draw!

If you don't have access to private land in C I would hunt Y down by Kaycee. I have hunted that unit 6 times for deer and antelope. 100% success rate on Antelope and near 80% on deer. Deer were nothing to bag about but the 4 of us always got deer and antelope. I have been hunting C on a ranch and have a hard time seeing antelope.

We even went on public land to try and fill 1 antelope buck tag last year with no results. C has very little public land.

LAST EDITED ON May-28-17 AT 09:15AM (MST)[p]You say you've been doing a lot of research to come up with Region C as your choice, but I have no idea how you could have done that when the draw odds on the G&F website show C at less than a 45% draw with no PPs, while several other Regions are 100% draw with no PPs! Region Y is now less than a 60% chance at a tag in the Regular draw with no PPs, so you might want to study the draw odds more in the next day or so.

TopGun , I see that you are correct it's at 57. 6% draw odds now in unit Y, I have looked at so many units . The feedback I've got from a few people led us to think C was our best option. Still looking at all options . We are really just struggling with all the lingo that Wyoming has in its regulations to really decide on we're to apply. Thanks for your input though! It all helps.

WIBuckslayer thanks for your insight, assuming you are from Wi? Same here Oshkosh Area, are you planning on hunting there this year? The odds are showing that the Deer odds are at like 60% for unit Y, but you have been quite successful in drawing and finding public access there? Just trying to do our homework before applying

I'd recommend picking a specie first...with no points your wasting time and money trying to do deer and antelope. Concentrate on one or the other. Buy a point for the one you don't draw for the future.

A little close to deadline for research to be confirmed to your idea of a good or bad unit or region.
If I were you I would 100% put in for region R or F mule deer. And if successful or not, then buy a leftover antelope tag for unit 22. Buck and doe tags are always leftovers in that unit for antelope.
Buy a deer pref. point this fall and next year you can do it all again.
Just my opinion.

Good luck!

Unit 88 is very small, is bucks only and just a 7 day season, and there is essentially no legally accessible public land in that unit.

Thanks TopGun , we had just noticed that there was some areas along the Platte River that looked somewhat decent, I really appreciate everyone's help on giving their advice !

Don't give up Roost! Lots of land and game to hunt in Wyoming.
Hope ya got my pm.
Some of us members do try to help others. I sure appreciate the help I've gotten on the forums I'm a member of and only hope I can return the favor best I can.
Better throw your name in the hat soon though. I've given what I thought was best info I could.
Pm me if you want any more information on the area's I recommended.

I hunt E for doe deer every year (if I can draw a tag). Public land gets pounded and private land isn't much better. I'm sure an occasional buck steps into public but I'd imagine it'd be like an American stepping into north Korea with a gun....
