I'll never understand why anyone spends money on bear and lion; both OTC statewide tags.

Probably because they don't read the Regs. to know any better Jeff!

I'll never understand why they didn't call me (but not for lion or bear)!!! I was supposed to be a winner. LOL

You're a winner in my book Zeke and I hope you and the family are doing okay after your loss! I know it's hard, but I'm starting to see the light of day now and am looking forward to get away from here for a couple months and to have more fun with my friends out west!

My wife said some one. From Wyoming Game and Fish... Called for me the other day.. Maybe I was a winner.. And just missed the call.. NOT.. Lol

I've been applying for several years now for the trifecta. I recently read where these tags raised almost $900,000 for the state of Wyoming. Is it just me, or does it bother others that if you are lucky enough to win one or more of these tags that Wyoming makes non-residents pay full price for the tag? Basically you win the right to buy a tag; why not just allow us to win the tag? The state already made $900K, do they really need another couple grand for the tags? Just my 2 cents.

PLK it wouldn't really bother me.. Considering U not bye in years of points.. And hope in to draw.. Ur in a since going to the front of the line.. If Ur the lucky winner... If I was a non resident.. I mite even pony up the special money... Just my opinion...

Statute requires winner to buy the tag. There is an easy remedy for those that don't like that.

Always has to be someone complaining about something!

I simply figured that the reasoning behind the entire Supertag process is to generate additional funding for the state of Wyoming in return for the opportunity for a very small number of hunters to have a great hunting experience. Perhaps if the statute was amended, even more people would take part in the Supertag process thereby generating additional income for the state.

Didn't really think I was complaining but did intend to criticize the process.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-20-17 AT 09:00PM (MST)[p]I doubt seriously that your comment is valid since it's up front about buying the tag if you're a winner and I doubt the tag price will hold many back if they have the money to play the game to begin with. Winners also aren't penalized and keep their PPs and rights to hunt that same animal in the regular draws because those things are waived for the winners. Theoretically a guy could hunt sheep two years in a row the way it's set up.

Not sure which part of my comment that you think might not be valid? You assume that since I can afford the $30 to enter the Supertag Trifecta that I then must be able to afford $2K for a sheep tag, $2K for a mountain goat tag and perhaps $1.4K for a moose tag if these are the three animals I desire to hunt.

Usually when you win a raffle, you get the prize for free.

What don't you understand about this raffle that is on the up and up and people know what they are getting into when they buy a chance? You would have to be pretty stupid to pay $30 for a chance at something you know you can't pay for and if you won would say sorry, but I don't have the tag money to go hunting. NRs that put in for those high fee animals you mentioned obviously have the money to pay for the tags or will put the license fees on credit cards and pay it back over time or they wouldn't waste the money to buy the chance in the first place! As JM stated earlier, if you don't want to play you don't have to and your posts really are complaining IMHO because this isn't your usual free raffle you alluded to!

Ok. Let's see a show of hands of those that don't participate in the Super Tag Raffle because they have to pay for the license.

I didn't participate in the ones that I couldn't afford the tag for, but did others. So do I raise my hand half way? LOL

aye

My app money is better spent on points and WY still gets the money. I have a better chance of getting hit by lightning than drawing one of those tags.

Theoretically, (if you were one lucky SOB) you could have three bighorn sheep licenses in one year:

1- draw in the regular draw
2 - win the super tag bighorn drawing
3 - win the super tag trifecta drawing and pick bighorn sheep for one of the licenses.

Of course, you would have to purchase all the licenses.

IDK how many time we hear of guys winning expensive (Cars, Trucks, Atvs, Utvs, even Lawnmowers) prizes at our county fair raffles, that can't pay the state taxes up front! lol It's a win, win, for the dealers, as they usually buy the prize back at a cheaper price - the taxes.
