Well once again I'm looking for help on here. I'm looking at unit 19, what does everyone know about it? I've heard access can be a problem but I also heard there is a big HMA that helps a lot ? I've got to get this figured out soon because my job makes me schedule my vacation at the end of this month for next year! I'm planning to bowhunt, I have enough points to draw the type 2 tag then I'll buy the archery permit. Since I'm planning to bowhunt will being there in September help ?

19 gets lots of pressure, access is tough, I don't think it was worth the points having hunted it. If I could do it over I would try elsewhere. Even some spots on the general tag are better than 19.

Did you take an elk ?

I talked to the warden about access there, they said there's a big hunter management area in 19 that pretty much opens up the whole southern half of the unit. I don't know

I watched 24 bulls and 200-300 cows having a rut fest last month from a glassing point a few miles away..........all in the safety of the large private ranch. Look closer at the HMA in detail...most of that "whole southern half" HMA land is lope country.

I will try to check it out

19 is a good unit for teaching people a lesson when they don't do a lot of research. I'll suggest you find another unit.
