Dang, so you really do have a way of looking before they come out. Lucky dog!! Guess the rest of us will have to wait tell 10am tomorrow morning. Which unit did you burn the points on???

Congrats Bob! You even have Big Fin shaking his head over on HT wondering what your "backdoor" is now!

>He doesn't have a back door.
>Just jerking your chain.

Lol...The only one I know that has draw odds and dept info down pat, is Bob! If there's a way, he'll know!!!

Congrats WapitiBob - I hope you kill a giant!

Quick question - I'm looking at the odds for 2018. I had 8 elk points as of November 2017. Would I be in the 8 point pool for the 2018 odds just posted or would I be in the 9 point pool? Either way, no tag for me!

Went Special and didn't get it and the regular took 2 less than I had. ##### happens I guess, but everyone in the area I went for jumped from regular to special and the spread was 3 less points needed for the regular.

So I'm looking at the 2018 Elk Drawing Odds for 59-1. I thought that there was 1 tag available in the NR Regular Preference Point Draw and 1 tag available in the NR Special Preference Point Draw. Yet in the NR Regular PP Draw the odds indicate that 2 licenses were drawn. Also, six applicants applied and the odds were 16.6%; meaning 1 out of six applicants drew.

So I assume that the 1 applicant that drew was a group application that included 2 NR, each with maximum Preference Points.

What if there had been 6 people on the party application? I figured the Wyoming Game and Fish wouldn't allow people to apply as a party in a unit where only 1 tag was available. Am I missing something here?

Max points for the son and a big UNSUCCESSFUL!!! we will still spend 20+ days together on two other hunts :)

LAST EDITED ON Feb-22-18 AT 11:32AM (MST)[p]PLK, WY will fill a party of 6, up to 6 licenses. The applicants column shows the total 1st choice applicants including all members of parties.

I, I, I should get a tag just for applying; and I didn't! I'm going to protest & riot!!!

Oh wait a minute......that's for something else.

Yes, they will if that party of six is drawn first over everyone else. That also goes for the deer and antelope draws, but not for any of the other critters. It's the same way if they are in a lower pool with a lot of tags available in a unit and only 1 or 2 tags are left for that pool and they draw. It also shows the success percentage as if only one or two tags were drawn, rather than 6.

Looking over the statistics was pretty interesting. Some units drew with significant point creep, some drew less In Regular than special, some didn't change at all. General took 3 points to guarantee a tag.

I was in for one of the long shots - I will have 11 elk points in 2019. Will likely look to use them in 2019 or 2020.

I was unable to login with old user name, so I created a new one.

My friend both had max points and we put in as a group and we got luck and drew 59-1. We knew going into the draw that Wyoming would give both of us tags even if two tags were not available.

I am surprised because the only tags I have draw in the past has been either sex grasshopper tags. I was able to harvest a B&C flying grasshopper in the late 90's.

Wondering now if the same thing is going to happen with Deer...Least I have a refund coming to use for it! ;-)

Congrats to all who were successful in the draw. I struck out in the "nonres special draw" with 10 pts Here's to 11 pts and better luck next year!

Alpinehunter,
Congratulations on drawing such a coveted tag(s). I'm jealous as I have been trying to draw that tag for many years and also have maximum points. Will you be hiring a guide? I wish you the best.

I joked with my wife that since only 5 other people applied (besides you), that if only I could contact these other non-residents that maybe I could convince them to join up with me and apply as a group next year and improve our odds. Lol.

I hope you and your friend have a true once in a lifetime hunt in some awesome country

Paul

>007-1 successful

I applied for the same tag I was unsuccessful .

How many points did you have to draw. Curious how your hunt goes and hope you post pictures afterward !

Hey Robb! You're one of those guys that hits the random every time they put in that makes some residents dislike their random system that never draw and want to change it to points for them too!

Jimmy,
My son and cousin and I drew tags for 67 archery. Do you have archery or rifle tags? PM me if you would like to visit about our hunts.

Thanks, I like the idea of applying as a group of 5 then everyone draws. Yes, I will be hiring an outfitter. I am looking forward to a great hunt.

Yep; as doing it that way now is much quicker and cheaper for them than issuing checks.
