Anybody ever hunt 86 for Goats? Have 4 points so weighing my options. This is close to home (southern id), has lots of public, good harvest rate. Am I missing something? Not overly concerned with killing a huge goat just want a fun trip with the family and to be able to look at a few different goats. Thanks for any input.

It's not really known as an antelope unit. It's all NF Land and there aren't many licenses issued for it. 4PPs won't draw it in the Regular drawing based on the 2017 odds, but would in the Special Draw where only 3 tags were issued and nobody wants to spend that much money on that unit. If I were you, I'd be looking more to the east in the interior of the state.

Majority of goats are going to be on private in the area. . A lot of the public is not really goat country. You can probably find them off private, but defintely not a "trophy" area. Unless you have connections, there are far better areas for use of your PP that are much more public land friendly with goats.

Thanks for the input, I just looked on WYG&F and it says 3 points were 100% last year in the reg draw. I am just looking for an enjoyable hunt somewhat close to home. Thank you guys for the input, I really appreciate it. Never killed a goat so just looking for the opportunity.

I shouldn't have said "won't draw", but rather might not draw because that draw only had 5 tags and there were 33 that put in for it that didn't draw. With the fee increase 4 PPs may draw it this year, but I wouldn't try for a unit with that few tags when it's because it's just not an antelope unit. Drive another hour or two, which really is nothing, and hunt a good unit withyour 4 PPs!

Thank you again for the input TOPGUN, I really do appreciate it. I will go back to the drawing board and see what I can come up with. Going to burn points this year just need to figure out the where.
